"Not the needle, nor the thread, the lost decree. Saying nothing, that's enough for me." Feb 14, 2009 - I was greeted with a large banner saying "HAPPY VALENTINE'S! I LOVE YOU" along with a gorgeous bouquet, in front of hundreds of people. Feb 14, 2010 - I was greeted with a life-size card saying "HAPPY VALENTINE'S! I LOVE YOU", held by Patrick Star. Feb 14, 2011 - [insert cricket sound here] Yesterday, February 14, 2010 would probably be the most memorable V-DAY for me. We sat on the couch half a meter away from each other without our skins having the faintest contact, with our heads looking up the ceiling, singing Droplets in duet. He slipped two strawberry YanYan's (my fave snack of all time) in my hands. I gave them away to my one-year old nephew. I got tired of receiving gifts from him not just because he has the tendency to give absurd ones but because really, I'm not materialistic. He definitely gave me the best gift ever though, better than my 12th birthday gift from my dad (which was a camera-phone) - his ears. He wasn't much of a listener, you see. It can take some getting used to before you know when he is actually listening or when he is just hearing. We sat quietly next to each other after singing out duet. All of sudden, he sang Ama Namin in a hiphop rhythm. I laughed my guts out that my voice became raspy the moment I started to talk again. I told him, Do you know how much happiness you give me as much hurt I constantly receive (and have accumulated), every single time my foot lands outside my room? He understood what I was talking about. He neither uttered a word nor looked at me. Then I was happy :) |
